Cyclic fatigue resistance of ProTaper Universal, Twisted File Adaptive, Reciproc and WaveOne systems

Introduction: The aim of this study was to compare the cyclic fatigue resistance of ProTaper Universal, Twisted File Adaptive, Reciproc and WaveOne systems.
Materials and Methods: Four groups of nickel-titanium (Ni-Ti) endodontic instruments were tested in steel canals. The cyclic fatigue of the following Ni-Ti instruments was tested: ProTaper F2, Twisted File Adaptive ML 1, Reciproc R25 and WaveOne primary. The mean rpm of each system was evaluated in the testing block, and the number of cycles to failure was recorded for each instrument.
Results: The Reciproc had the highest fatigue resistance (p < 0.001) in the tested systems. There was no significant difference between the mean number of cycles to fracture of the WaveOne and the Twisted File Adaptive (p = 0.124), and the ProTaper Universal showed the least cyclic fatigue resistance (p < 0.001).
Conclusions: The latest Twisted File Adaptive system could not outclass tested instruments other than ProTaper Universal by means of the cyclic fatigue resistance.

Amaç: Bu çal??man?n amac? ProTaper Universal, Twisted File Adaptive, Reciproc ve WaveOne sistemlerinin döngüsel yorgunluk dirençlerini kar??la?t?rmakt?r.
Materyal ve Metod: Dört e?e grubundan olu?an nikel-titanyum (Ni-Ti) endodontik enstrümanlar çelik kanallarda test edildi. Döngüsel yorgunluk dirençleri test edilen enstrümanlar s?ras?yla ?u ?ekildeydi: ProTaper F2, Twisted File Adaptive ML 1, Reciproc R25 ve WaveOne primary. Her bir sistem için test blo?u içerisindeki ortalama dönü? h?zlar? ve her bir e?enin k?r?lana kadar yapt?klar? döngü say?s? kaydedildi.
Bulgular: Test edilen sistemler içerisinde Reciproc en yüksek döngüsel dirence sahipti (p < 0.001). WaveOne ve Twisted File Adaptive sistemleri aras?nda ortalama k?r?lma öncesi yapt?klar? döngü say?s? aç?s?ndan istatistiksel olarak anlaml? bir fark yoktu (p = 0.124) ve ProTaper Universal bu sistemler aras?nda en dü?ük döngüsel yorgunluk direnci gösterdi (p < 0.001).
Sonuç: Bu sistemler aras?nda en son tan?t?lan Twisted File Adaptive systemi ProTaper Universal d???ndaki di?er sistemlere döngüsel yorgunluk aç?s?ndan bir üstünlük sa?layamam??t?r.
